Bringing together senior policymakers, industry leaders, and development partners, this high-level event, held in collaboration with the Insurance Development Forum (IDF), examined how insurance and risk financing can serve as critical tools for resilience in a context of increasing uncertainty. Discussions focused on how well-designed insurance solutions can help protect vulnerable households and businesses, support fiscal stability, and enable faster recovery from shocks while contributing to broader development objectives.

The event featured high-level speakers including Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands in her role as United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health (UNSGSA), Sophie Sirtaine, Global Director, Financial Services, and CEO, CGAP, World Bank Group, who moderated the session, and Michel Liès, Chair of the IDF Steering Committee and Chairman of Zurich Insurance Group. The session highlighted practical examples, from protecting smallholder farmers against climate shocks to strengthening financial systems that enable investment and growth.
